Atlas of Paintings uses privacy-focused website analytics and performance measurement to understand which pages are useful and whether the site loads reliably.
Data collected
Anonymous page views, referring sources, device and browser categories, approximate geographic region and Core Web Vitals may be recorded. Collection interactions can record a painting identifier, selected movement, sort mode, search phrase and result count. Research-tool events can record a tool identifier and predefined actions such as starting, printing, downloading, copying or sharing.
Data not requested
The site does not require an account and does not ask for names, email addresses, payment details or precise location for normal browsing. Worksheet answers, custom citation text, comparison brief text and clipboard contents are not sent to analytics. Analytics data is not sold.
How data is used
Usage and performance signals guide technical fixes, image delivery, internal navigation and decisions about which paintings, artists and research records should be expanded next.
